Biomass is the oldest source of renewable energy. It virtually includes all organic material of plant or animal origin that is biodegradable. This is mainly communal, agricultural, forestry or industrial waste. The use of biomass allows to make almost any kind of waste quite useful.
In Poland there is a considerable biomass potential that can be turned into an energy source by obtaining heat (straight burning of wood, straw) or usage of biofuel (biodiesel or alcohol). At present Poland produces approx. 2 million tons of biomass with future prospects of about 21 million tons of straw, 3 million tons of wood and 7 million tons of waste sediment. The Polish biomass market is about to develop rapidly as the domestic biomass usage index is only 8 % whereas in the rest of Europe it reaches the level of 28 %. Moreover, pro-ecological legal regulations are being made to support that trend and also the coal market is now getting tight and prone to fluctuation and instability.
Compared to coal, calorific value of biomass is obviously almost twice lower, nevertheless its usage is still worth considering due to very low costs. It is estimated that 2 tons of dry biomass equals to 1 ton of coal. The most popular way of biomass utilisation is producing electric and heat energy in special power stations. In addition, production plants and medium enterprises with high heat demand are getting more and more concerned about alternative sources of energy.
What we offer:
- comprehensive conduct in biomass-based investments, particularly heat or electric and heat energy production,
- selection of equipment e.g. boilers,
- help with signing agreements (e.g. fuel purchase or energy sale) and obtaining relevant permissions, documents or domestic or European grants,
- preparation of thorough business plan.
